Episode 15: Sherrie Barch, Donna Lee, & Jax Hope

Sherrie Barch – Elder Law Hour welcomes Sherrie Barch, author of Heaven's Bell. The book is about two middle school friends. One passes away and the other lives a full life on earth and they meet again in heaven. The book offers pathways to talk about grief, relationships, and other difficult topics that we tend to avoid as adults. It's a wonderful book and segment that we hope you will enjoy! You can find the book on Amazon, Audible, or Kindle!

Donna Lee – Donne Lee, program Director at Alzheimer’s Association, is back talking about how to navigate large gatherings with a loved one battling dementia. Just in time for the holidays, she says it’s all about adjusting expectations and being flexible. Donna and Emily also talk about how to continue a meaningful relationship with someone with Alzheimer’s. Maybe it’s looking at pictures, slowing down the conversation, or meeting them in their reality. Donna has really great tips that you don’t want to miss!

Jax Hope – Greg Ritscher and Gregg Hummer, both with Jax Hope, are back to talk about their personal journey with Parkinson’s. They describe the symptoms, the experience with their doctor, and how their wives reacted. Greg Ritscher gives us the 101 on what happens in the brain with Parkinson’s. Why isn’t there more funding for the disease? And why is everyone’s symptoms a little different? Both of these make the diagnosis difficult.
