Donna Lee, Program Director with Alzheimer's Association, is back to discuss a very important topic - taking care of the caregiver! The Alzheimer's Association has phenomenal resources for families, especially caregivers. A diagnosis of dementia or Alzheimer's affects the entire family, and caregivers are more at risk for depression and health risks themselves if they don't take care of themselves. We are so excited to welcome a new guest to the show, Becky Yanni, Executive Director of St. Johns County Council on Aging. Becky talks about the Council's mission to allow the senior population in St. Johns County to age in place with dignity. They offer programs like Meals on Wheels and serve 300 meals per day by volunteers! They offer classes for caregivers activities to keep seniors active like Tai Chi at multiple locations around St. Johns County. Greg Ritscher and Gregg Hummer are back to talk about Parkinson’s and tips for the caregivers of people with Parkinson's. The early stages can be full of fear not just for the person diagnosed, but for the family as well.
